Movers for Mom’s
Going on now through May 6th
The Bridge Church Reno
Just in time for Mother’s day we have partnered with “Two Men and a Truck” and their non-profit group “Movers for Mom’s.” They have asked us for donations that will go to our local Domestic Violence Resource Center. You will notice two donation boxes in the Welcome Center with a list of items they are looking for such as full size hygiene items and non-perishable food. These boxes will be picked up May 6th. You can learn more about the donation drive here https://www.facebook.com/moversformoms/

To honor memorial day we will come together with the Spanish Springs campus and have our worship service outdoors on the patio. If your last name begins with A-H please bring a salad, if your last name begins with I-P please bring a side dish, if your last name begins with Q-Z please bring a dessert. This is a great opportunity to invite friends and family and celebrate together. Don’t come alone.

Facts about the Gospel of John
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The Word in Creation
The Word and the world
The Word and Mankind
- The Gospel of John was most likely written between 85-90AD. The other three Gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) were already in circulation.
- The Apostle John decides he will write and account of Jesus’ life but he includes much different content.
- 85% of what John writes about Jesus cannot be found in the three other gospels.
- I believe John wrote his gospel from Ephesus where he was a leader in the early church.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John1:1
John choose to open his gospel with a thesis statement and he will use the next 21 chapters to prove what he is stating.
John uses the word “logos” which in Greek literally means “word.” But it is also used as sort of pop culture philosophical word at the time.
The Word in Creation
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
John 1:3
Physical life was authored by Jesus and spiritual life can only come from Jesus. He is the only way that spiritual life is possible.
The Word and the world
The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.
John 1:9-10
People naturally do not want to be in the light. The light exposes their deeds and their need for forgiveness and reconciliation.
The Word and Mankind
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:14
John reveals that the “logos” is God’s only son; Jesus!
John make the statement that God became man. The creator became the creature and lived among his creation.
