Message Notes

Beautiful People

October 15, 2023

Oikos - Extended household: which includes your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.  The relationships that God has strategically placed in your life that you naturally connect with on a regular basis.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” l For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
Romans 10:9-15

Paul is telling us that we need to share the message of the Gospel with our oikos.

How else will they hear about Jesus?

Why is it so important?
  • The gospel message is the most important information you can share
  • The gospel message is often misunderstood
  • Time is running out
  • It is the reason you are still here

Jesus said to another man, “follow me” But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”
Luke 9:59-60

How we should we look at it?
  • See people instead of obstacles
  • See similarities instead of differences
  • See opportunities instead of challenges

God is not challenging you to share the gospel he is giving you the opportunity to share it with those you love the most.

The enemy is hopping you will see your oikos as nuisance, irritation, a bother, a challenge that is not worth your time and effort.  But it’s not. It is the opportunity of a lifetime.  Better yet, it is the opportunity for them to be with you on the other side of this lifetime.

Bottom Line: Bring good news to your oikos.
