Think Grace - God is a Gracious God

The Story of God’s Amazing Grace

We are marked by God.  The RULER
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Genesis 1:26-27
One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving…
Psalm 62:11-12a

We are marred by sin.  The REBELLION
When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.  Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
Genesis 3:6-7
We do two things:
  1.  We hide.
  2. We blame.
As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.
Ephesians 2:1–3

We can be re-made through Christ.  The RESCUE
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.
Ephesians 2:4–5
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:21
"There is more mercy in Christ than sin in us."
 - Puritan Richard Sibbes
"Before You Share Your Faith"
 - John Stott pg. 17
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
