Update from Pastor Darin

Hello Church Family!

Last Sunday was our first Sunday back in person for more than two months and let me tell you that it was sure nice to have people in the room. There is nothing like the body of Christ unified and together in worship.

We were right in the middle of a fundraising campaign when the “stay at home” order was put in place. Because everyone’s future was unsure, we decided to stop that campaign. However, even though we stopped, we are still having money come in. So much so we were able to purchase those new chairs we have been talking about! As of right now 25 brand new chairs are somewhere between Mississippi and Sparks. We do not know exactly when they will get here, but I cannot imagine it being too long.

As we begin to meet again and as our city begins to re-open after the COVID lockdown, I am not 100% sure what “normal” is going to be. And I know that can be a bit scary. There is a lot of stuff going on right now in our country. Between COVID and the civil unrest brought about by police brutality and other issues, our country is experiencing things we never have before. I think a lot of us feel helpless and confused. I know for me personally; I feel like maybe there is something I can do to help. When I am not sure of how to respond, or what to do in certain situations I turn to God’s word. I think here in the USA we take the word of God for granted, we forget that it is authored by the God of the universe and everything in it. With a word God created the Heavens and the Earth. And still, often this book sits idle in our houses (the average American house has three Bibles). These tough times we are in may not get better anytime soon and I am thankful that I have at my fingertips the word of our great God. As followers of Jesus, during times of great trial, we have a very important role to play. Remember, we hold the keys to the Kingdom, we have a hot line to The Lord God Almighty and we are called to use it. We need to be praying and praying hard, along with that we need to be sharing our knowledge of Jesus. People do not need more programs, people do not need more money, people need Jesus and we hold the key, we know that the way to God is through His Son Jesus.

“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way where I am going.” Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. (John 14:1-6)

Thomas asked, “we do not know where we are going…” Have you ever felt that way? Many of us are feeling that now. But know that God is in charge, we may not know what to do, but He does. Our community is full of people who do not know Jesus and it is our job to do our best to introduce them. We may not know exactly where we are going or what Jesus has in mind, but we do know that He is with us every step of the way.

I would like to encourage you to ask God to lead you to people who need the Gospel, ask God to give you the words and let Him do the rest. It is Jesus’ job to save people, it is our job to point everyone we can to Him.

Know that God is on the Throne, no matter how crazy things get in our world God is on the Throne and always will be. Keep your eyes on Jesus and we will all be ok. Remember that even in the midst of all this chaos Jesus is at work in the hearts of people everywhere.

Financial Report:

Due to COVID-19 we have had to adjust our budget. Giving has continued even through this strange time. I will remind you that a good portion of our budget comes from the money that was set aside to start our church. If you have questions regarding our budget, come by the church or call and I would be happy to talk to you about it.

June 2020:

Income: $3,183.00

Expenses: $12, 406

Year to Date:

Income: $ 39,568

Expenses $92,202

This Time Last Year:

Income: $ 32,170

Expenses $104,465

2020 Growth Campaign:

$6,708

If you mailed your check or put it in the offering box Sunday, please be patient. Our offering gets sent to the Reno campus and is counted and deposited from there and that takes a little more time than usual. Please note that we are $7,398.00 ahead of where we were this time last year. That is good news and shows that even though we are in the middle of a global pandemic we are still growing. I want to thank you all for your faithfulness to the mission of the Bridge Church Spanish Springs. I am looking forward to all the new ways we are going to be able to serve Jesus together in the coming months and years as our community slowly reopens.

I hope you have a good day.

In Christ Alone,

Darin
