Being Presumptuous

The enemy knew the Scriptures and used them to tempt Jesus to act irresponsibly and try to force God’s hand. He wanted Jesus to presume on God’s promises. We often presume on God’s promises far more than we think about. We know God has promised to forgive so we sin, just a little because we believe we will get away with it. We get involved with something or someone that we know is questionable and then we expect God to bail us out. Jesus said no to Satan’s temptation because He knew that trying to manipulate God wouldn’t be trusting God, but testing God. And he knew that there’s a big difference between the two.
