Born in Reno, Darin has been a resident of Sparks most of his life, attending Robert Mitchell Elementary, Dilworth Middle School, and Sparks High School. In 1996, returning from service in the Unites States Marine Corps, Darin married his high school sweetheart, Becki. Darin began ministry in 1997 as a volunteer Youth Pastor at Reno FBC, now known as The Bridge, until being hired at Emmanuel FBC as Youth Pastor in 1999. In 2003, Darin was called to manage Sierra Pines Camp near South Lake Tahoe. He and his family lived there until 2008. When the Elquist family returned home to Sparks, Darin was once again hired at Emmanuel FBC, this time as the Family Pastor. In 2013, Darin accepted the call of Sr. Pastor at Emmanuel FBC. In 2015, Darin joined the staff at The Bridge. Darin’s passions are coming alongside young families and helping them become better: better spouses, better parents, and better followers of Christ, through the grace of Jesus, as well as mentoring younger believers by teaching them not only how to spread the Gospel, but also how to teach others to spread the Gospel. In his spare time, Darin enjoys playing guitar and drums, gardening, and building things. Darin and Becki have five amazing children: Molly (25), Macyn (16), Carson (12), Rusty (10), and Drew (7), an adorable granddaughter: Charlotte (3), two dogs: Esther (15), and Sandi (3), and seven chickens: Tina, Lucy, Kung Pao, Recker, Colonel Sanders, Dixy, and Belle (1).
